The idea behind VaidyaGuru was born from a very real and deeply personal problem. During his studies, the founder noticed that BAMS students across India had to rely on scattered physical textbooks, photocopied notes, and expensive coaching materials to study the vast ocean of Ayurvedic literature. There was no single, reliable, digital platform where a student could read an original Samhita, perform personal Ayurvedic Parikshan, ask doubts to an AI tutor, and access study materials — all in one place, and all for free. Since its launch, VaidyaGuru has been serving Ayurveda learners across India, offering digital access to classical Ayurvedic texts in Gujarati, Hindi, and English — making this ancient knowledge accessible to students regardless of their language background. The platform is completely free to use, without charging students a single rupee.
VaidyaGuru takes its name from two Sanskrit words: Vaidya (meaning a physician or one knowledgeable in medicine) and Guru (meaning teacher or guide). The platform is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means it can be installed directly on a mobile phone like a native app without going through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. D D Patel is a BAMS student at the Government Ayurveda College Junagadh (GACJ) — one of Gujarat's oldest and most respected Ayurveda institutions. Despite having no formal training in software development or computer science, he taught himself web development, React.js, TypeScript, Firebase, and AI integration entirely through self-study, driven by a single goal: to build a platform that genuinely helps his fellow BAMS students across India. We store only the minimum data required to provide the service: your name, email address, profile picture (from Google login), role (student/teacher/doctor), course level, and preferred language. This data is stored securely in Google Firebase — one of the world's most trusted cloud infrastructure providers used by millions of applications globally.
We do not store your Parikshan (health assessment) results on our servers. These calculations happen locally on your device. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data to any third party. We do not collect or analyze your reading habits, highlighted texts, or private notes — these are stored only in your personal Google Drive if you enable the backup feature.
The optional Google Drive backup feature allows you to back up your AI chat history, book highlights, and personal settings to your own personal Google Drive account. We use the Google Drive API with the minimum required permissions. We can only write to a specific VaidyaGuru folder in your Drive — we cannot read, modify, or delete any other files in your Google Drive account.
